ABOUT US
Tabitha Foundation Hong Kong was set up in 2016 to directly support the mission of Tabitha Foundation Cambodia, a non-profit organization which was initiated, founded and established by Ms. Janne Ritskes in 1994. Tabitha Foundation Hong Kong is a charitable institution granted tax exemption under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance.
Tabitha Foundation Cambodia operates with minimal overhead and running costs. All funds are used to help the poorest people in Cambodia through programmes that focus on personal and financial development.
Since 1994, Tabitha Cambodia has reached over 4.5 million people, working directly with over 5,000 families, through our high impact community development programs.
Tabitha currently works in 37 areas within 15 provinces in Cambodia providing programs that make significant changes and developments in the lives of the Cambodian people.
A group of Tabithas and supporting groups in Australia, Singapore, Canada, USA , UK , Netherlands, Dubai, Hong Kong, China and other countries were established by Janne’s colleagues to focus efforts with the joint international goal of lifting more Cambodians out of poverty. They are continually fundraising and supporting the programs of Tabitha Cambodia and that makes Tabitha stable.
Tabitha’s main activity is the Savings Program (Family Partnerships). Before joining Tabitha, many families have no savings or may only save a few cents each week as the average family earns less than US$1 a day. Through Savings, people set goals to make their lives better. Tabitha staff make weekly visits to families in the program to offer support and collect the savings. After 10 weeks, the families receive back their savings – they use the money to buy items they need thus achieving their initial goals. Then they start the cycle again, with new dreams and goals. Families graduate from Tabitha in 5-7 years, after which they have enough food, clean water, shelter and a sustainable source of income.
Mission – Our mission is to enable the poorest of the poor in Cambodia to recognize and develop inherent skills and resources in a way that brings dignity and respect within the people we work with; within the country and within the world; and that will result in measurable and visible improvement in the lifestyles of the people we work with.
Vision – The vision is to develop processes which will enable people to actively make their own choices and processes which will result in alleviation of poverty – results which can be clearly identified and seen.
